Texas Dentist of the Year

Dr. Daniel N. Garza has been nominated by the Guadalupe Valley District Dental Society for the Texas Academy of General Dentistry's Dentist of the Year award. It is considered the most prestigious honor a Texas dentist can earn. Nominees are selected by their local component or by the Texas Dental Association. Individuals nominated for the award show a commitment to advancing excellence in dentistry through activism in organized dentistry, dedication to the continuing education, and participation in charitable work and civic service. Dr. Garza is one of only a select few dentists nominated for this year's award. He and the other nominees will be honored at a special gala on Friday, September 16th during the Texas Academy of General Dentistry's annual Lone Star Dental Conference in Austin. Each nominee will be recognized and will receive an engraved plaque. The gala will conclude with the announcement of the 2011 Texas Dentist of the Year and the presentation of the trophy to the winner. Dr. Garza is a 1974 graduate of the University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston. He is a member of the Texas Dental Association and is past president of the Guadalupe Valley District Dental Society. He earned his Fellowship in the International Congress of Oral Implantology and has accumulated over 100 hours of continuing education each year since he graduated from dental school. Outside his practice, Dr. Garza donates his time and dental skills to the Donated Dental Services Program Smiles on Wheels and is a participant in the Smiles For Life program. Additionally, he is a founding member of the Goliad Knights of Columbus and operates the South Texas School of Dental Assisiting.
